Sometimes large animals require advanced diagnostic tests and treatments, and that’s when we look to our Large Animal Internal Medicine Team. Our team is capable of helping and caring for our horse, cattle and other large animal patients throughout their lives – from neonates to geriatric.
Some of the specialized services we offer include endoscopy of the upper respiratory tract, the urinary tract, and the gastrointestinal tract, in addition to radiography (x-rays), blood tests, and ultrasound. We are also able to assess reproductive abilities (repro exams) in both males and females, assist with insemination, calving or foaling, and manage the neonates if there are any problems.
Some common large animal internal medicine problems we manage routinely include colic, laminitis and other lameness issues, displaced abomasum, hardware disease, as well as infectious diseases.
Insurance & Pre-purchase Exams
When purchasing a horse, it may be required that the animal have a pre-purchase exam performed. This allows an equine veterinarian to examine and detect any existing or potential health issues that may affect the horse.
There are four phases to a prepurchase exam, in which our equine veterinarians assess a horse’s complete condition. Beginning with a thorough identification of the horse’s distinguishing characteristics, we then move on to examining the horse’s body and internal organs.
If you have any questions about pre-purchase exams, please contact us today at (307) 763-4525.
Lab and Diagnostics
We offer digital radiology and digital ultrasound in addition to the ability to perform upper airway endoscopy. We provide basic laboratory services and have access to referral laboratory services.
